“The secret of hitting is physical relaxed, mental concentration.”
In order to test your hitting mechanics and “feel,” the closed eyes drill will give you an excellent indicator as to your proficiency. In your hitting drills it is very important to concentrate visually on the ball without head movement. Also, a hitter should go “to and through” the ball on his/her swing. By using the closed eyes drill, you will test your stroke. Drill: Assume your stance and take two good swings at the ball. Prior to the next swing, close both of your eyes and take your regular or normal swing. (You may also use a blindfold.) Repeat this drill five to ten times. If you are having a problem hitting the ball or “feeling it,” then it is time to review your mechanics and go back to basics.
