The Bottom Hand Rules SwingAway - Get Good Gazette, Volume 2 Issue 13
"Bottoms Up" In hitting correctly, your bottom hand pulls everything into motion. As you get ready to hit, nothing can be forced. Hitting is a process of pulling and pushing motions. Your top hand is relaxed and your bottom hand is up and pulls the knob of the bat forward, delivering the bat head to the ball… and WHACK! DRILLS: Using a hammer training aid or short bat, take your stance. Load your bat… remove the top hand and place it on the opposite shoulder. Take 10-15 “one hand” strokes focusing on “delivering the bat” with bottom hand pulling it to the ball.
