TIP: When confronted with a 2-strike count as a hitter you must:

1. Slightly widen your stance (1-2”) to eliminate lateral movement and to pick the ball up quicker.
2. Move a smidge closer to the plate to take away the inside pitch.
3. Choke up on the bat ˝” or more to gain more bat control and help increase bat/hand speed.
4. Shorten the swing: short and quick to the ball (more control).
5. Hit the ball where it is pitched.

Other: Try to foul off the tough 2-strike pitch and get the pitcher to “give in”. Watch the pitcher to find their 2-strike “go-to” pitch.

Drill: Set up in your 2-strike stance and practice the short, quick 2-strike swing (Hint: Practice waiting by counting 1001-1002 and then swing).
