Listen With Your Eyes
SwingAway - Get Good Gazette, Volume 2 Issue 30

TIP: To decrease blinking while hitting, try opening your mouth as you swing. It is very difficult to blink with your mouth open.

The goal of a hitter should be, try to see the ball hit the bat, and not see the ball hit the bat. If you do not blink, you have a better chance to follow the ball. It is possible to follow an outside pitch and see it 10-12 inches before contact. It is harder to see an inside pitch. The speed of the bat and ball prohibit seeing actual contact.

Follow the ball with both your head and eyes!

DRILL: Take 10-20 swings per day with your mouth open. When on deck, concentrate on following the pitches with your head AND eyes.
